Today meet Carolyn Kay
Accounts HYDRAQUIP Metal Hose Division
While at school my dream job was to be a nursery nurse, however after attending an admin/accounts day course (I only went because all my friends were going!) I enjoyed the day more than what I thought I would and could see myself working within an accounts office. I have been working in an accounts environment since 1987 and have gained experience and knowledge through on the job training, without going to college or university. I started as an Office Junior at a department store called J R Taylor where I worked in accounts for 10 years. I then worked at Yates Wine Lodge as I wanted to progress to a bigger company where I was promoted to Accounts Manager for 12 years, however after being made redundant I began searching for a new job. I began my employment with Hydraquip in 2010 after spending several years working in accounts for a company called Flexible Hose Supplies, which has now been purchased by Eriks Hose Technologies. I enjoyed by time at flexible hose supplies and was disappointed when I was made redundant. Though it was great news when i heard Hydraquip were opening a Metal Hose Division in Bolton and were interested in talking to me. My current role at Hydraquip involves purchase ledger and credit control tasks for the Hydraquip Group of companies, offering support to the accounts team for a number of locations. Anything with numbers, I’m good at! In addition to this (haha did you see what I did there?!), I also offer administration support to the Metal Hose Division and have previously done some van delivery driving too.
A big wine drinker, you can always find me in my local pub on a Friday night. I’m a girly girl that enjoys socialising with my friends, shows and sunglasses shopping, and I own 20 pairs! I also enjoy handbag shopping. I love going to music concerts such as U2 and I am going to see Deacon Blue soon who I last saw 20 years ago. I love a good old chick flick film, my favourite is called Mistic Pizza and enjoy spending time at the gym. I have two daughters Holly, 19 and Olivia, 15. Ibzia has been one of best holiday destinations as I like its hippy vibe and I am looking forward to going again, hopefully next year. This year I am going to Minorca and Turkey. My favourite TV programme is Little House on the Prairie and I have a habit of swapping my cars regularly, at the moment I have a Fiat 500 but I may not have it much longer!
